May Birthstone - Emerald
Posted by on
This blog post is about the traditional May birthstone, Emerald. To read more about my meaning of the word “traditional” read the February blog post. It is my goal to provide information that is informative, lifting and inspiring. Some of my blog entries will also include a blessing that I intuited.
Emerald is a form of Beryl that is the color of emerald green. It is known as the “stone of successful love”. It is reported to instill loyalty and sensitivity within oneself and within others as well. This stone combines the characteristics of intelligence and wisdom resulting in right action… action aligned to a purpose… as the only path to take. It is a motivator, impelling action and giving it focus. This stone is also reported to calm emotion and works with the heart chakra. It is associated with the astrological sign of Taurus, Gemini and Aries.
May is also the month of the second of the spiritual festivals, the Wesak Festival. It is the month where, after starting something new, the matter naturally comes up to resist the purpose energy. It is a time of alignment. If one aligns to the purpose and pushes through the resistance, then intelligent, right action can be taken. The pull of earth matter is very strong during this time. It is not unusual to feel lethargic, like everything is so hard, so difficult to accomplish. Remembering your purpose and drawing upon that purpose energy will help you move beyond the resistance.
Emerald is less hard than a diamond, 7.5 – 8 hardness compared to a diamond’s 10 hardness.
Emerald Blessing
Regal, lush, vibrant stone
A symbol of the growth and vitality of love
Everlasting, continuous and unconditional
Fertile ground for action guided
By purpose, will and intention
Lifting spirit and dissolving those barriers
To what is new and ready to be born
Out of the will to be,
The love of creation,
And intelligent action!
Blessed Be!
