February Birthstone - Amethyst
Welcome to the Fleur de Life Jewelry Blog!!
This is my first blog post… It is my goal to provide information that is informative, lifting and inspiring. Some of my blog entries will also include a blessing that I intuited.
I am starting in February, my birthday month, and one of my favorite stones, Amethyst… the traditionally recognized February birthstone.
Why do I say “traditionally recognized”…. From a metaphysical or energy perspective, each astrological sign has many stones associated to that sign. For example, the sign of Aquarius is associated with well over 100 stones… Agate (plume), Amber, Amethyst, Chrysanthemum Stone, Fuchsite, Quartz Manifestation Crystal, Shattuckite, and Spessarite to name a few. It is also interesting that these are stones I am very strongly drawn to. I suggest that this is because each of us are unique… our natal astrology charts are a snapshot of the heavens at a specific location, date, and time that it unique to each of us. Therefore, our “birthstone” would naturally also be unique…. Is your chart more influenced by water, air, fire or earth signs? Are you more cardinal, mutable or fixed in your expression? Also, as we grow, evolve and transform ourselves, the birthstone that we respond to and work with may also change. Remember also that the month of February starts in the sign of Aquarius and ends in Pisces.
About Amethyst… this stone is a variety of quartz. The color ranges from pink/lavender to deep purple depending on the amount of manganese and iron in the stone. The deep purple color is common to the Brandenburg Amethyst which comes from Namibia. Other types/colors of this stone are found in Brazil, Oregon, Montana, South Africa and other locations. Other forms of amethyst include Brandenburg, Brandenburg Phantom, Stalactite, Vera Cruz, Amethyst-Fluorite, Amethyst-Chlorite, Amethyst-Cacoxenite, Harlequin/Fire Amethyst, Lavendar Amethyst, Chevron Amethyst, Amethyst Elestials, Amethyst-Flower, Honeycomb Amethyst, Pink Snowball Amethyst, and Spirit Quartz. Ametrine is a combination of both Amethyst and Citrine.
Prasiolite is a green colored member of the Quartz family that is often called “Green Amethyst”.
Amethyst is a stone of spirituality, contentment and meditation. Historically this stone was thought to prevent intoxication and that placing a stone under your pillow facilitates the dream state. It is said to be good for raising lower energies to higher. Take some time to pick up an amethyst stone or jewelry made with this stone… what do you experience? It feels like I am looking into the depths of my own soul and experiencing that depth, at its highest, reflected back to me. As a member of the quartz family, Amethyst is also a magnifier of energy. Use it for creative visualization of your intended purpose.
Amethyst is said to be associated with the astrological signs of Aquarius, Pisces, Capricorn, and Virgo.
I gaze into the depths of your violet pool...
Reflecting back that inner me...
Perhaps forgotten in the day’s activity...
A unique soul with a purpose to be...
A much higher expression of divinity...
Manifesting dreams that inspire...
Spiritual destiny’s lasting fire!
